No Pain No Gain


It's that time of year again. Time for Native Youth Olympics. Every year in AK a group of very determined teenagers gets together to celebrate their Native heritage by competing in events like the high kick, described here, which would pose a challenge for most of us just to get into the starting position.

Then there's they downright painful events like the wrist carry, during which the athlete is carried around a track by teammates by holding onto a stick with only his/her wrist and the seal hop, where the althete hops across the floor on his/her toes and knuckles in a modified push-up position.
