I concur

Izzy, a member of our home group when we were in Alaska, has been posting his frustrations about shipping to Alaska. Although I now live in Chicago and don't have that problem anymore, Izzy I feel your pain!

Case in point. We wanted to order authentic Chicago Deep Dish pizza for our superbowl party the year after I completed an internship in Chicago. The vendor has a business in freezing their pizzas and shipping them outside of Chicago. The pizzas were something like $18 each with a $10 order fee for a maximum of 4 pizzas per order. When we went to place the order Amanda didn't see any shipping to Alaska options, so she e-mailed the vendor. After a bit of a delay Amanda went and checked the website again and lo and behold there was a new shipping policy to Alaska. In essence it was UPS (which was something like $35) + $25, which makes no sense as UPS factors in shipping to Alaska in their pricing.

So, for four pizza's we would have spent $18*4 + $10 + $35 + 25 = $142 = $35.50 / pizza

We went local instead.
