Theme continuation

To continue to theme of random/funny signs. The orphanage we went to in Manila has a collection of funny signs they've come across in their overseas adventures.

Upon seeing a recent post by Kevin Cram regarding random signage, I felt compelled to post this picture of a sign in an Amish community in Pennsylvania that we found during our travels there. We also enjoy collecting pictures of interesting signs.

Thar she blows...

I typically ride my bicycle to the train station when it's a) nice out and b) light out. Today I made it half way before I heard 'thump ... thump ... thump ...' One tire bit the dust, now I'll have to learn to unicycle (or just go get it fixed).

And They're Off!

Ok, so this is how my mind works, for better or for worse (probably for worse).

Amanda and I are watching the prelude to the Kentucky Derby and they announced the crowd at approximately 156,000 people and said it was the third largest in derby history. Immediately I thought it'd be funny if they were meaning largest in terms of body weight rather than body count, so I had to figure it out.

According to National Center for Health Statistics the average weights are:
Male : 189.8
Female : 162.9

If you figure that half the people at the derby are male and the other half female that equates to a total mass of 27.51 million pounds worth of people at the derby. I'll have to keep tabs on the total for next year, see if that crowd is "larger".

CEO for a day?

Salary.com posted their annual update of what a Mom should be paid, accordingly it's $138,095. Based on their calculation method I think the total should be higher. They neglected to include all of the 'on-call' hours.

In total I agree that Mom's put in a lot of work. I just hope that the IRS doesn't catch wind of it and decide that it's taxable!
